The next 25 years of cancer research: Emerging perspectives and priorities.

Over the past 25 years, cancer research has undergone profound conceptual and technological advances, yet major challenges remain. As Nature Reviews Cancer marks its 25th anniversary, we turn our attention to the future of the field. Believing that emerging investigators are uniquely positioned to challenge prevailing assumptions, adopt new interdisciplinary approaches and redefine research priorities, we asked them to share how they envision the future of cancer research. Here they highlight conceptual opportunities, identify paradigms in need of re-evaluation and discuss the approaches they believe will most strongly shape the field over the next 25 years.
