Immissionsmessungen verkehrsbedingter Luftschadstoffe in einem Waldbestand im Luv und Lee einer Autobahn in Südbayern.
Gefahrstoffe Reinhalt. Luft 69, 150-154 (2009)
In order to study the nitrogen deposition in ecosystems of the Bavarian pre-alpine region, we investigated the influence of traffic-born emissions on adjacent forest stand. A transect was placed across the motorway which dissects the spruce forest from north to south. Four plots at each side of the highway have been installed in a distance of 30, 80, 230 and 520 m away from the roadside. Each of them was equipped with ventilated and non-ventilated passive samplers for measuring the ambient air concentration of nitrogen dioxide, ammonia and ozone. The significant influence of traffic exhausts on the ambient air concentrations of both nitrogen dioxide and ammonia can be shown. Due to the photochemical ozone formation a fast NO2-decrease was observed at both sides of the motorway, which mostly leads to ozone maxima at the same time in a distance of 80 m. Nevertheless, at the eastern (downwind) side of the highway even in a distance of more than 500 m obviously higher NO2-concentrations have been monitored than in the regional background. The fast decrease of the NH3-concentration with increasing distance to the highway is caused mainly by deposition processes near the source.
