Radiation exposure and radiation risk in civil aircraft.
Radiat. Prot. Dosim. 48, 33-40 (1993)
This paper discusses the origin and size of the radiation exposure in civil aircraft from cosmic rays and compares the associated estimated health risks with normal mortality rates and their changes with time and location. The average annual exposure of air crew members might be approximately 5 mSv and the resulting increase in the age-dependent incidence of late somatic radiation effects is very small as compared with the total death probability rate.
