The concentration of the radionuclides (239/240)Pu, 137Cs, 90Sr and 40K depends, considerably, on the type of honey collected by the bees. Therefore, the use of honey samples as bioindicators for the above radionuclides will, in general, require the determination of the nature of the honey by a pollen analysis.
